Jalapeno pepper plants can produce around 25-35 pods. During a typical growing period each plant can be picked multiple times. As the growing season ends, the peppers start to turn red. Ripe jalapenos will grow to approximately 4-6 inches long. They are ready to be picked when they are firm and bright green, but you can wait and harvest them when they turn red.
Jalapeno peppers are a really good source of vitamin C, folate and vitamin A. The Capsaicin in them (which makes them hot) is a nutrient found in all chili peppers and it is a natural anti-inflammatory which helps improve circulation amongst a host of many other health benefits. Chili peppers help to clean your blood of mucus and various toxins, making it easier for oxygen to be supplied to your cells. It also helps to regulate blood pressure, it’s good for various stomach ailments, and is a great digestive aid. The heat is rated at 5.5.
Full sunlight. Seeds should be sown in light, rich, moist and well-drained soil in a warm sunny place (60 F degrees minimum). The seeds take 16 to 20 days to sprout. Transplant the seedlings, as soon as they are large enough to handle. The plants must never suffer through drought or low temperatures. Set plants 24cm – 36cm apart.
